The Great Himalaya Trail N10: Kanchenjunga

This corner of Nepal is a protected area. The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, managed by local and indigenous communities, in partnership with WWF, is one of the least densely populated in Nepal. It contains tracts of pristine forests, alpine meadows and high altitude wetlands that are home to the endangered snow leopard, red panda, and the vulnerable Himalayan black bear, clouded leopard and Assamese macaque.

GHT enthusiasts will venture north of Kanchenjunga, past the base camp at Pangpema, to get as close as they can to the Jhingsang La, the starting point of the GHT in Nepal.
